Agreement between the Belgian Engineering Societies ie-net
(ex-KVIV and ex-VIK), FABI and UFIIB.
The French-speaking and Dutch-speaking engineers represented on the one hand by the FABI and the UFIIB and on the other hand by ie-net (ex-K VIV and ex-VIK) agreed in 2005 on the following:
- Recognizing the complementarity of the two forms of education/training for engineers in our country, namely civil engineers and agricultural or bio-engineers on the one hand and industrial engineers on the other.
- Promoting and monitoring the role and function of engineers, their titles and interests in the Dutch-speaking and French-speaking Communities in Belgium as well as in the European Union and worldwide.
- Contribute to adapting and/or improving the content and form of higher education in the Faculties of Engineering Sciences as well as in the Faculties of Bio-Engineering and Colleges.
- Encouraging young people to study for civil engineer, bioengineer or industrial engineer.
- Underlining the role of the engineer in our society, improving the image of the profession among the public and valuing the position.
To achieve the above objectives, ie-net, FABI and UFIIB, have established an association called "Comité Ingénieurs Belges – Belgisch Ingenieurscomité", abbreviated "CIBIC".
CIBIC, which meets at least twice a year, will develop joint activities in the interest of Belgian engineers.
